In these days of shrinking revenue, reduced State and federal aid, 2% caps, exploding energy costs and taxpayer rejection of budgets and school facilities referenda, Board Members must look to creative ways to support ongoing educational programs. This workshop will explore alternative funding sources including school bus advertising, naming rights, concessions, power purchase agreements and student activity fees.
Board of Trustee Members, who are often Charter School Founders, are faced wtih the daunting and conflicting tasks of overseeing educational innovation and student success while at the same time navigating a myriad of unyielding statutory compliance requirements beyond the Charter School Act. The session will explore the role of the Trustees both in theory and in the nuts and bolts practices through both lecture and discussion of every day issues.
