Many districts have turned to renewable energy projects as a cost savings option. The vast majority of these projects involve power purchase agreements or district owned and financed photovoltaic systems. The presenters will discuss their experiences with renewable energy procurement, and answer audience questions on the subject. Items to discuss include: 1) how the drop in the SREC market impacts current and future projects, 2) issues to consider in the development of RFPs and project specifications, 3) roof and maintenance issues, 4) joint solar projects with other districts or governmental entities, and 5) available procurement methods.
Presenters will discuss new innovative ways of funding facility renewal for aging schools, while pursuing LEED Certification. Discussion will include new approaches, as well as potential legislative improvements, which will provide an opportunity for school districts in need of capital facilities renewal to move forward with needed improvements and renovations. Presenters will also discuss the potential of renovating existing schools or building new schools while protecting the school district's debt capacity.
During this session, we will provide information regarding the process for analyzing the student data and making the determination on the greatest needs of the students and the programs that would benefit these students and could be created in-district.
The program will demonstrate the types of energy-related improvements that can be implemented and financed with the use of bonds, power purchase agreements and energy savings improvement plans. The presentation will display actual energy-related improvements through the use of a power point presentation--namely, boiler replacement, HVAC control systems, lighting, and solar energy panels to name a few. The program will demonstrate the most cost-effective way to finance these improvements by maximizing state aid and energy-related financial incentives--such as rebates and the sale of solar renewable energy certificates.
Human Spectrogram. Personal pie chart. Role play. Slinkies, mood rings, telepathic atmosphere, You Tube, TED, Speed Chatting, flying dogs and a spot-on way to lose 20 pounds and never gain it back. A little nonsense blended with a lot of common sense you never knew about, but have always used.
Districts have been having a really tough time getting their value out of banking relationships. They are paying near zero on deposits and many are charging for services as well. Finally most banks do not support districts when they need to borrow. We'll discuss how to best select a bank (RFPs) and how to appropriately apply pressure to get what is deserved.
It is intended to use this direct experience presentation, necessarily limited by the available time, in conjunction with a group session that will more fully explain various alternatives for financing and implementing energy savings improvements and renewable energy production facilities to reduce a district's energy costs and favorably impact energy policy in the State.
In conformance with the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act, school districts, principals, other school staff, and board of education members will understand what constitutes bullying and, how to prevent, report, investigate and respond to incidents of harassment, intimidation and bullying through lecture, group practice, role plays, DVD segments and appropriate handouts .
The private sector has always recognized the importance and value of a strong corporate “brand.” Many school districts are now also realizing that shaping a positive school brand is essential for community support and student success.
Participants in this session will examine the message their schools send to their communities, students and staff. They will explore Neptune High School’s commitment to it’s brand “Excellence: No Excuses” and the impressive results it has produced.
