This class will present to viewers a stark look at the fire problem we have here in the U.S. Attendees will learn about the internet fueled juvenile firesetter epidemic occuring here in America. They will see the unrealistic portrayal of fires that occur in the home thanks to movies and TV.They will see first hand the value of the Fire Is program for not only students, but their parents/caregivers as well. The New Jersey FMBA Foundation, supported by a grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. It is our objective that attendance at this information session will give school administrators a comprehensive overview of the “Fire Is” fire safety education curriculum. The critical key to this program is not only reaching middle school-aged children as they begin to understand fire, but their parents/guardians and care givers as well. The curriculum is centered on a home-based learning system employing television, the internet, and public volunteers to put a new face on fire safety. Therefore, the program need not interfere with classroom time.
